My daughter was assigned the 1984 classic by Beverly Cleary, “Dear Mr. Henshaw,” the story of a boy adjusting to his parents’ divorce as told through letters to a favorite author and later the diary the author encourages him to write.

Since I am embarking on being an author, I was particularly impressed by this story, in how it reveals what I am learning are the realities of being an author.
